For those of you worried about energy consumption:
When your screen is white, be it an empty word page, or the Google homepage, your computer consumes 74 watts of power just displaying it, and when it’s black it consumes only 59 watts.
The obvious response: make Google Black!
Apparently 'Blackle' could reduce global energy use by 750 Megawatt-hours a year which sounds pretty good to us!

Word is.. it only works for CRT screens. So if you are still stuck using an aging monitor then it might save a little energy. Better to cough up and buy an LCD screen, that will save a lot more energy in the long run.

If you like Blackle just for the colours, there is a neat trick you pull in OSX. Hit keys (command + option + ctrl + 8) and the screen inverts. Try it with this site, its delightful. Pink and black :)
