We wanted to wish you a happy and fortuitous 2011. But instead of the normal David and Mark video 'chat' we decided instead to get the London office to express our sentiments via the medium of dance. Enjoy!

* This was filmed at Pineapple Dance Studios at Old Skool Hip-Hop Dance class for our Christmas Party.

The Ultimate Friday Playlist

BLOG: The Ultimate Friday Playlist.

Here at codegent we love our music, and we love Friday afternoons. So we have decided to put together the Ultimate Friday Playlist on Spotify and we need your help.

For those who haven't been swept up in the revolution, Spotify is a simple piece of software which puts any song you want to listen to at your fingertips and gives you instant access with no restrictions. We find this interesting as it is the final stage in de-commoditisation of music, which started with the removal of the purchase of a physical 12"/Tape/CD. Now purchase is no longer needed to listen to any song, when you want it.

So if you want to add a song to get us dancing on Friday, install spotify then follow this link to add your party favourites. http://tiny.cc/vvZAU

To claim a song as your own, you can either leave a comment below or just tweet it to us @codegent or tag #ultimatefridayplaylist

BLOG: Office Makeover

After three great years in our second office, The Plough Brewery (I can't believe its been that long already) we thought it was time to do the place up again as well as address our pressing need for a larger meeting room.

Once the work permission bribe to the landlord had cleared the account it was full steam ahead with the build. The new meeting room is a sleek glass number decked out with mounted flatscreen and sweet sound system for demos, leather sofas for chilling and drinks fridge for... erm, drinking. We need to sort that table out next :)

Feel free to stop by and sample the facilities!

A big thanks must also go to Tom and Charles of Alexander Hamel Interiors for the beautiful decor. Highly recommended.

Well there has been no slacking at codegent towers over the holiday season. Even on New Year's Eve half the office is still here finishing off bits and bobs for the various January campaign launches we are doing for our clients. Dedication to the cause!

2009 looks like an interesting and tough challenge for us all, but one we are relishing. We expect clients to be looking very hard at what they are getting for their money. It's something we've always believed is important but never more so than now. We're an ideas-led agency but we always make sure that they relate back to the client's commercial requirements. We call this process a "Return on Ideas" and it's something we're looking to refine over the next few months.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone
Mark, David and Luke

PS We couldn't sign off without giving you a little pressie now could we?

Feel free to play with Youth Music's Elf band and slap down your very own remix of Jingle Bells whilst you catch up on what Youth Music have been up to in 2008.

And if you have experienced the embarrassment of a card turning up from someone who failed to make your own list all is not lost! We knocked this little app together in one day as a proof of concept for our latest gizmo, the "Snapper"... more on that one in January :)

BLOG: Big Questions

There are some pretty heavy questions floating around at the moment what with economic meltdown, continued religious conflict and the imminent election of the most powerful man in the world. But at codegent towers we have got a few questions of our own...

Who in the office can fit the most amount of Rich Tea biscuits in their mouth at once?

Answer: Mr Matthew Jukes (4)

Next week, an update on who can grow the best tache as we kick off the month of Movember

One dance left...

BLOG: One dance left...

David has sold my beloved fruit machine on e-bay for £10.50 "to make more room in the office" for our new joiners, he might have a point. But! Matt and I nearly killed ourselves carrying that thing up the stairs! And in doing so we bonded with 'fruity' in a special way.

So with a heavy heart I turn to the words of others to express my feelings on this impromptu break-up :(

"And although we might say that we're alright,
it's clear that we've stepped out of time.
There's something quite telling just there at the edge of your smile.

And its not that a heart has been broken.
It's just sad when the flames start to freeze.
And the sparks that we had can no longer light up our debris.

It's just part of us all growing older.
Facing things that we don't want to see.
Like a heart is a thing ever changing.
And love, is a thing that will come and go with the breeze."

'Debris' available for purchase here

The codegent team have been bouncing off the walls the last 2 days thanks to a sugar infusion of very tasty cupcakes, courtesy of our new hosting friends at ultraspeed.

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach and not through cold-calling. Rackspace et al... take note! :)

Upgraded

BLOG: Upgraded

We have grown bigger, in terms of people, clients and aspiration. We're constantly amazed at how well things have gone for us since we started back in 2003. Much better than we dared expect.

The result is that we have had to grab our stuff and move (just a half mile down the road) to bigger premises.

We're now installed on the top floor of a converted brewery near Clapham Common. It's a lovely space - high, beamed ceilings and views out towards Battersea Power Station in one direction and the Houses of Parliament in the other. At the moment we have more space than we know what to do with, but we're not expecting this to last.

Thanks to everyone who has helped us on our journey so far. If you are passing please come in and say hello.

Could this be our new office?

Could this be our new office?

We've been looking for new offices as we're kind of straining at the seams where we are now. It was great when we started, but our numbers have grown and short of sitting on top of each other, we're running out of options. We want something where we can continue to feel creative and where people feel comfortable (clients and staff).

Opinion is divided on whether we go for the parquet floor shown in the picture above, or a carpeted floor option that has very high ceilings with a lot of natural light.
