BLOG: David is a Chair

Well... actually a Vice Chair. At the BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) AGM last week, David was successfully elected to Vice Chair and will serve with Justin Cooke as Chair. Justin is Managing Director of agency, Fortune Cookie. The executive committee saw 9 new members joining the team.

David said: "We were amazed at the calibre of people standing for election for this year's executive committee. The experience and the will is there to enable us to make some significant changes and re-engage with everyone involved in the industry. This year we want to really push the idea of the UK being a world-class centre for digital innovation and build on the superb work that has been done by BIMA already in fostering future talent among schools. We're also going to really look at how we can bring more benefits to members in the areas of publicity, networking and education."

David joined the BIMA executive committee a year ago. It's great that one of our own has received this accolade from his peers and whilst it means that he'll have to spend less time doing Codegent stuff, we all think that improving the industry in which we all work is a worthy cause and well worth the effort.

BLOG: David elected to BIMA executive

The digital industry's professional body, BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) held its AGM last week and elected none other than Codegent's David Hart to its Executive Committee.

BIMA strives to develop an internationally competitive new media industry in Britain. David is keen to foster more collaboration within the industry to encourage best practice as well as looking at ways to help smaller, growing companies in the sector.

BLOG: Codegent judges the BAFTAs

We had to keep our mouths shut until after the event, but our very own David Hart was among the illustrious panel of judges for this year's British Academy of Film and Television Awards. David sat on the "Interactive Innovation - Service/Platform" category.

Whilst the calibre of the entries was really high, we're delighted that the BBC iPlayer picked up the award on the night.

Congratulations to Tony Ageh, Anthony Rose and Ian Hunter (pictured above).

Fallout

Facebook is addictive genius... official!

Meet Fallout, David's 80s New Romantic/Punk(?!) band that sadly never was to hit the big time.

They had the look (thanks to plenty of hairspray and superb trouser collection - lace up zebra skin is just the tip of the iceberg). They allegedly had the songs and they certainly had the crowds of Sharnbrook Upper Sixth begging for more.

Join the Fallout group on Facebook and revel in the evocative photography and nostalgic comments from the guys, 20 years on. Surely we should start a campaign for the reunion tour?

BLOG: Any excuse for a new hat

We at Codegent love a good wedding - all the more so if it is two of our Nearest and Dearest taking the plunge.

And so it was that last weekend, in a sunny field in Flandres, David made an honest woman of Jane - there may be some incriminating evidence on Facebook if you delve deep enough.

Congratulations Guys!!

All aboard!

David takes to the high seas today for the Marketing Forum on the Oriana. A gruelling session of back-to-back meetings followed by further schmoozing in the Crow's Nest bar.

Stuck on a luxury criuser for three days with nothing to do but eat, drink and make friends? It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

David visits Mr Walker

This week saw David flying up to Aberdeen to spend a few days with the Walker family, owners of the prestigious Walkers Shortbread company.

A guided tour around the biscuit factories saw him wearing the obligatory white hat and blue hair net. He was later told that when Prince Charles visited a few years ago he actually refused to wear the hairnet.

Other attractions included dinner at Mrs Walker's house, a tour around the Glenfiddich distillery and a day's snowboarding.

The Chronicles of Pootle

The Chronicles of Pootle

The codegent offices were once again filled with mirth and merriment as it emerged that curious Dave's pet (or fluff?) name for his wonderful girlfriend Jane is Pootle!

Younger readers may not be familiar with the classic BBC fur-based television series from the 70s - The Flumps - but the name Pootle "the youngest member of the Flump family, he often got things confused and he sometimes wore a white hat" is certainly a comedy term for his better half.

Aside from outing David as a big softie in this blog entry I would like to also share a beautiful Flumps moment with viewers...

"One of the most tear-jerking episodes concerned Pootle's consternation that the moon appeared to have fallen into a bucket of water. The moment when he realised that it was the reflection of the moon in the water, was a heart-breaking piece of British television."

Enjoy further flump love here
