BLOG: Every little helps

For those of you worried about energy consumption:

When your screen is white, be it an empty word page, or the Google homepage, your computer consumes 74 watts of power just displaying it, and when it’s black it consumes only 59 watts.

The obvious response: make Google Black!

Apparently 'Blackle' could reduce global energy use by 750 Megawatt-hours a year which sounds pretty good to us!

BLOG: Save the world before bedtime!

We at Codegent like a good tree. New ones are cool, but old ones are even better so we thought 'why not save a few?'. Apparently 30 billion kilowatt-hours of energy is wasted because loads of us forget to shut down our pcs, but all is not lost because you can download a handy application that will do it for you here.

So it turns out that you don't have to wear your pants over your trousers to save the world after all.
