Issue:
We were contacted on behalf of Gap by their recruitment advertising agency because they wanted to improve the way they used the internet to recruit staff across the country. Because Gap is such a large organisation with many stores, the administrative burden of working through thousands of aopplications was enormous.
Insight:
We knew from our experience building recruitment sites, that people don't apply for jobs in one go. They like to start an application and come back to it later. They also may apply for multiple jobs within one organisation – especially where there are lots of store locations.
Solution:
We created Gap's website and back-end system. The key thing was allowing individual stores to easily manage their own vacancies and applications. Gap HQ also needed to be able to track the impact of recruitment campaigns. Our system provided the ability for Gap staff to manage their own store's recruitment and within the first 6 months, 80,000 registered users had made 30,000 applications. The project was so successful that they cancelled a planned above-the-line advertising campaign to recruit temporary staff over Christmas.
